Rengin JOHNSON
Ms. Ayse Rengin Dengizer-Johnson was born in Instabul, Turkey. From the age of 10, she grew up and attended school in the United Kingdom.
She attended North London University in London, England and obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and was admitted to the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 1981 and called to the degree of an Utter Barrister in 1983.
In 1992 she was admitted to the Bahamas Bar.
She is a qualified Barrister-Counsel and Attorney-at-Law, Former Deputy Chief Magistrate and Circuit Justice.
Rengin is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Member of the CIArb Bahamas Branch since 2012. The former 2nd and 1st Vice-Chair, and now the current Chair of CIArb Bahamas Branch.
She is a member of the ADR Bahamas.
In 2017 Rengin represented the Judicial Department of the Bahamas in San Salvador by attending the International Law Enforcement Academic (ILEA) Public Ethics Course.
She is a Life Member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and represented the Bahamas in 2017 as Country Vice President. In addition, Rengin was accredited to the Bahamas delegation to attend UN Commission on Women CSW in 2017-2018.
In 2017-2019 Rengin was the Director and Chairman, Ethics & Legislative Committee of Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce.
She has been a Rotarian since 1996, former and present President of the Rotary Club of Freeport and the Rotary Club of Grand Bahama, respectively. 2018-2019, Rengin also served as the Assistant Governor of Rotary District 6990.
Rengin’s lifelong desire was to become a qualified Barrister- Lawyer to practice the law, ascend to the Bench, and finally open her law firm in a style and practice representing her values, principles, and motto.
Since the late 90s, Rengin provided Legal aid through her radio show titled “Scales of Justice”.
In August 2000, Rengin established the law firm of Ayse Rengin Dengizer Johnson & Co., a proud continuation of her family tradition, which has produced a long line of judges and lawyers.
